Introduction

Firstly, I Lucifer, want to welcome you to our wonderful staff team, I hope this guide made by Tefey & Gold can assist you in fulfilling your role and can better illustrate your responsibilities.

As a member of staff, you represent the server, so how you act and the actions you take reflect us as a team overall.  Here at BigHat we expect that what you output reflects our team positively, to build and reinforce our strong image and bolster your own position in the team.

We expect a lot from all our staff members but the key points we look for are as followed:

  •  To be as active as possible, always online and checking the discord for any area you can assist. (server-side too)

  • Good Moderation of both the server and discord e.g. Incorrect use of channels, Spam, pinging higher staff members for incorrect reasons etc.. basic rules and server-side we expect the same.

  • Respect to both players and staff members, we expect you to treat anyone in the player base with a high level of respect, even if this certain player has got on your nerves or caused some problems you should deal with this matter, not with your emotions but, following rules and dealing with the issue correctly.

Things to keep in mind :

While these are not key things we look out for these are things we just expect you to do here at BigHat

  • Welcome New Players (both in-game and in the Discord)

  • Thank anyone who donates for any of our servers (again both server and discord)

  • Help as much as you can.

Situations :

Being on the staff team it is inevitable that you will encounter an issue or a question that you will be unable to answer, and this is how we would like you to tackle said question or problem.

Many questions can be way above you, or just far from your understanding, which is fair enough, however, If someone comes to you with a question you cannot answer sufficiently- we ask that you try your best, however, we have compiled a few common questions and the best answers to them below in hopes this can help you.

"Why is the server down?" / "Did the server crash?"

The answer will depend, so please keep that in mind...

If the server has simply crashed and the server hasn't automatically restarted, firstly, inform staff chat, If there is no one above Head Admin online, then respond with...

  • "It's likely that the server machine is under maintenance, the server should be up again soon. Sorry for the inconvenience."

If the server is repeatedly crashing, then once more you should inform staff chat and respond with...

  • "It seems the server has a bug, the problem may pass naturally, but don't worry, Lucifer will fix it as soon as he can."

We expect different things from you as a Staff Member and they are as followed:

Chat Mod

Chat mods are expected to, as their name implies, moderate chat. This implies dealing with drama, questions regarding the server and generally helping out players where they can. They are upheld to the same standards expected of any staff member on the server regardless of rank.

Mod

Moderators are still required to do the same jobs as they had as a chat mod, however with new permissions they are able to help in more situations without having to rely on higher staff. They are also required to help chat mods should they require guidance or support, as well as teach newer chat mods how to use commands or generally do their job correctly.

Senior Mod

Sr. Moderators should be in a position to help guide the lower-ranking staff members, by answering questions, helping out in situations that need further expertise, etc. You are expected to have more in-depth knowledge of the workings of the server and the gameplay itself so you can provide more qualified assistance to players and lower-ranking staff.

Head Mod

As the Head Moderation, you oversee everything in the moderation team. Your job consists of giving guidance to staff members, overseeing progress in the staff team and making sure lower staff members behave in accordance with this guide. You can demote/promote people in your moderation team, and are generally in charge of managing the whole Moderation team. You do NOT however have unlimited power, you are held to higher standards than the rest of your team and will be held accountable should anything go horribly wrong in your team.

Punishments:

Racism - Racism will almost always lead to severe punishment. For example, Saying the N word will always result in a month ban from our servers or a permanent mute on the discord/server. “Slight Racist” remarks should still result in at least a month mute on discord or a 16-day ban on any server.

Spam - If spam occurs on the discord or in the game chat, you should first administer a warning to the offender, should this warning be ignored the user should then be muted for 1 hour. If after this hour the user returns and continues to spam or is a second time offender (check mute logs) the user will then be muted for upwards of a day. Any further offences by this person will result in a week's ban every time this offence comes up.

Drama - Drama is classified as any discussion/situation where users or players go beyond the boundaries of that particular situation. This includes players escalating a discussion to a point where it no longer relates to the subject matter or extends beyond the relevant points of discussion. Another form of drama is toxicity from players in the game, if a player loses their items by dying, either by players or natural circumstances and then proceeds to harass other players or is generally causing drama about such a small matter, that can be classified as a drama. Punishments for drama depend on the situation at hand and require the mod dealing with the subject to make their own conclusion of what is appropriate. As a guide Drama usually only results in a mute as it generally does not cause too much damage when contained quickly. However, if a player is known to cause drama or has a record of causing drama (check ban/mute logs) the player can be given a month ban at most unless otherwise specified.

Bug/Glitch Abuse - Depending on how bad the bug abuse is a suitable punishment must be decided. If a player has found a way to duplicate items and then abused that for their own benefit, a permanent ban should be given out. The same applies for most other scenarios involving glitches or bugs, if someone has found a glitch/bug and abused it for their own or friends gain then a perm ban is acceptable, if they accidentally glitched, didn’t purposely abuse and immediately reported the issue, the only action that needs to be taken is to try to fix the bug/glitch or report it to a higher staff member so that it can be fixed. If someone has duplicated items these need to be deleted. However, in these scenarios, it is important to note that unless it can be specifically proven (via CoreInspect, etc.) that a player has bug abused, evidence has to first be collected BEFORE any punishment is given out.

IMPORTANT:

Before any punishment is given there MUST be evidence collected to show the offence. If unsure in a certain situation, contact a higher ranking staff member to confirm a punishment before applying a false punishment. After a punishment is given it MUST be documented in the mute- / banlog channels.
